Next, I’ll be completely honest and say that yes, I bought this book because of booktok. *clears throat* I would first off like to say that this book is VERY S-P-I-C-Y… so I would just like to throw that out there for all of my YA reader friends who aren’t into these types of books.

It’s almost enough for me to be happy…īut a gilded cage is still a prison, and I’ll do anything to obtain my freedom-even betray the man I’m falling for. He sees to my every need, no matter how carnal or extravagant. We know each other-and the dark desires we share-far too well. We fight during the day, but when night comes, we play out every fantasy I’ve never allowed myself to admit to having. I foolishly assume I have a chance to come out on top. In my arrogance, I play right into his hands. On the night Jafar takes everything from my father, he offers me a devil’s bargain-walk with my freedom and nothing else, or attempt to best him and regain my inheritance.

This review is also available on Goodreads.Once upon a time, I was a sheltered princess. It would appeal to readers who enjoy kinky erotic story. My favorite part is the one with another character who I have high hope for in the next book.ĭesperate Measures is with a modern, alternate retelling of Aladdin. Thankfully, this book was dirty with a capital D(ick) :p I loved the chemistry between them and dub-con always makes me hot and bothered. I love when characters evolved but not when it happened like a switch without enough support. I also felt the last 20% or so flipped too much to be believable. There was one thing I kept wondering how it happened that didn’t make sense because it wasn’t explained. However, I had some issues with the plot. I enjoyed the storyline and the supporting characters were all arresting in their own way. I liked how even though she’s sheltered, she’s smart and not innocent.Įven when she’s fighting me tooth and nail, there’s a core of submissiveness there that draws me, a moth to flame. Right from the start, he exuded mystery and sex appeal. And Aladdin is my second most favorite Disney cartoon, so it’s impossible for me to resist it. In that aspect alone this book already attracted my attention.

Give me sexy villains, and I’ll always choose them over heroes every single time. When her father’s ambitious second in command, Jafar presented her with impossible choices, she had to decide what she craved the most. Living in a gilded cage, her fantasies were restrained by the bars.

Jasmine Sarraf never got the chance to spread her wings. Type: Standalone Book 1 of Wicked Villains series
